Rabbi Blake, I enjoyed your video clip. The point of self-sacrifice as a prerequisite for achievement gives us much to reflect upon.
Leviticus starts out by saying, "אדם כי יקריב מכם קרבן". The word מכם can mean "one of you" - but, the statement implies, as you pointed out, "When a man brings a sacrifice, it should be - from within you (מכם)!"
